Chrome 68 Released With Warnings on HTTP Sites

July 25, 2018

The newest version of Google Chrome, Chrome 68 was released yesterday on July 24. Among other things, this version will automatically warn website visitors if the website is not secured with HTTPS.

Now, this is not something that just popped out of the blue. Google made the announcement some time ago, and we began warning our clients and others that this was coming. It's not that Google is trying to be mean; it's simply that they are committed to a secure Internet and this is an attempt to shame website owners into securing their sites.

This is also a win for those who browse the web; after all, who wants to risk their privacy or personal data being compromised? Certainly not I.  And who wants to do business with a website owner who thinks so little of their privacy that they flat out refuse to make their website secure?  The general public?  I think not.

The solution is simple; add a security certificate from a reliable company to your website, and change all the internal "http" links to "https."  The time involved could range from as little as 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on your website platform and the complexity of your website. if you are not technical and prefer to leave it to website professionals, fortunately there are some who know exactly what to do.  However, I would be cautious of using an IT company whose own website is not marked "HTTPS."

The critical factor is that you secure your website before you start receiving inquiries from concerned clients or customers.  If you need assistance in doing so, WebX provides an affordable, 100% guaranteed encryption service.  Follow this LINK for a fuller description of the service we provide.  https://www.webxdesign.us/https-solution
